GAY PAGEANTRY

My run for Mr. All American Gent 2013 was wonderful and fulfilling only making me want more!  Unfortunately it didn’t pan out on paper even though I wouldn’t have changed much of anything I did. I headed to Mr. EOY 2013 in Louisville, KY, better known as Entertainer of the Year and competed for the national title. Again the journey getting there brought me more joy than I can say but unfortunately I didn’t win. If I do enter another pageant it will be Mr. E.O.Y. next July with the possibility of a prelim before hand in hopes to bring home the gold! Join my Army and become a sponsor of #TeamStevenMichael.

Through the years I have worn many hats. Some were made of leather and others made with lace. I hope you get my point. I joke when I say I was raised by drag queens but when I first came out in Nashville, they befriended me and I wanted to become them. Competitive female impersonation is really big in the south and after finding out that I was a dancer, many of the entertainers hired me to either dance backup for them in pageants or to choreograph routines and steps.

This led into a short parlay into the competitive drag circuit for yours truly and I got a great taste of what it really takes to win the rhinestone punchbowl and title. I soon decided to un-tuck and leave it to the more passionate while I busted into becoming a masculine muscle beast. I’m admittedly still a showgirl inside and always will be. I definitely loved the performing aspect over putting on the skirts and heels. Well… (roaring laughter in my head)

I continued on choreographing for queens throughout the southeast and successfully produced a few girls to national titles. These days I sit on judges’ panels for the Continental, AAG and USofA systems, and have even judged a leather contest or two. I still love to choreograph and when given the opportunity, which is rare in these parts, I will produce an entertainer towards her dreams.

Hopefully one day very soon I will be promoting my own preliminary here in California and champion to bring good competitive drag into the limelight of the West Coast. RuPaul has gloriously paved a new way. However, there are other avenues to be traveled for success, as well. I want to open the highways with a red carpet rolling.

Thanks for giving me your card. I enjoy your comments on my score card for AAG at Large

    • WOW! Thanks…… Wonderful Job. We only have a limited time to comment and get to know you I hope what I say never offends. It’s always from the heart of wanting the best from people. Stay in touch. You didn’t mention the potato chips……LOL. Big Hugs.

    • Funny Factoid for the Books… Back in my day when I was competing (yes – in drag) my name was Ecstasy. Every time I heard someone call your name and it was often I giggled to myself. Thought you’d appreciate that. X
